Pipes is the working name for a new platform for peer-to-peer (P2P) application development.
Our goal with Pipes platform is to provide an easy-to-use API that handles the difficult technical challenges of P2P network communication and data synchronization, allowing developers to create new and innovative P2P applications.
The internet was designed with this in mind, but computing trends over the last 30 years have made this kind of direct connection more and more difficult. This is partially due to the lack of available IPV4 addresses, but more due to global trends towards client-server and/or "cloud" architectures. Pipes is an attempt to build a platform that can manage direct, peer-to-peer communication and data synchronization on the modern internet.
We believe P2P provides the best possible future for internet software. Internally, we've been using a collaboration tool built on Pipes for over a year now, removing our reliance on external tools such as Slack, Skype, Zoom, GitHub, AWS...and everything Google.
Join us in supporting P2P!
